A. Potting up refers to repotting your plant into a bigger pot. It is important with African violets to make your pot size changes in small increments. If your plant is in a 2 inch pot now, go to a 2 1/5 inch pot rather than a 4 inch pot. Never change the pot size by more than an inch at a time.

This also applies to new babies you've propagated. 3 oz solo cups work very well for "potting up" new babies. Those little plastic cups that come with cold medicines also work quite well as a starter pots.
