Step By Step Instructions

Step 4:
Attach the roof. Lay side 2 in place to assure the proper amount of space to allow the door to open easily.

After you have attached the roof, with the box on it's side, hold side 2 into place. Leave about 1/4 inch space at the top, this will insure you can open the door without any problems and allow for additional circulation. Using a square, draw a line across the side. Drill through the front into side 2. Repeat this process from the back into the side. These will be the swivel points for the door so you must get them as level as possible. Use nails here, but don't pound them in tightly.

Step 5:

On the bottom where it shows "Lock hole", drill a hole one size larger than one of your nails through the front panel and about an inch into the side of the door. Inserting a nail into this hole will lock the door down. The nail should fit loosely so you can remove it easily to look inside the box. Run a bead of silicone along the top where the roof is attached to the back. This will prevent water seeping into the box.

Congratulations .... Your new nestbox is done! Please be sure to view the mounting instructions on the nestbox page for additional information on height, direction of entrance hole and adding a baffle.
